I did an update via HP's Support Assistant App - drivers that were downloaded and installed were for the Bios and for Audio. Since then I have no audio and the system flags that there are no audio devices installed. Have tried rolling back the Bios and the drivers worked for a few minutes but as soon as the pause button is pressed or the next song plays the audio drops out. The same for video playback. Once the audio drops out I get the warning that there are no auido devices installed and application is closing. I tried re-installing the bios and had the same thing happen. System is Elitebook 840 G4 running Windows 10pro 64 bit. I have spent an hour on chat with HP and got nowhere. Suggested that I run Windows recovery. Before I do this does anyone else have any suggestions? I purchased the HP Envy 360 Laptop in June and since that time, I have had consistant and continuous audio driver failure. The audio driver fails after a few hours of using the computer. Simply restarting the machine does not fix it. Gone to a previous restore point, 2. Uninstalled and reinstalled all audio drivers, 3. Reset and restored my computer back to factory. This machine has some other problems related to sound as well but this one is the most annoying. Any help with this would be most appreciated!
